With myLoop to the Jungfrau Marathon

  • Markus is a passionate marathon runner. We accompany him on his way to the Jungfrau Marathon

Markus has been living with type 1 diabetes for over nine years. However, the passionate marathon runner from Graz does not see his diabetes as an obstacle – quite the opposite. He wants to prove that anything is possible. We will accompany him on his sporting journey to his next goal: the Jungfrau Marathon in Switzerland on 7 September 2024.

    Diabetes management and intensive preparation

Running a marathon is nothing new for Markus, 33. He has already taken part in many competitions in the past. The physical exertion puts his glucose management to the test. He has been using myLoop for two years and is happy to have the support of the automated insulin delivery system (AID) in his diabetes management.

Markus works full-time as an account manager and still finds enough time for training and family alongside his working day. Since his diagnosis, it has been important to him not to give up his great passion, running. Among other things, he has taken part in nine marathons in nine days in 2023 – crazy!

His next goal will be the 31st Jungfrau Marathon on 7 September in Interlaken. He will then have to cover 42.195 kilometres and 1953 metres of altitude in the Swiss mountains. We will be following Markus as he prepares for the race, reporting on his participation and how he recovers from the exertions. He will be sharing with us how he manages his diabetes in all phases – stay tuned.
